Since Roman times, the major industry of the area has been sheep farming, although mining and quarrying have also played a big part in industry too. The Lake District is said to be one of the best places to eat in the country, with two Michelin Star restaurants, and it has it’s own micro breweries.
The Lake District has long been associated as the source of inspiration to The Lake Poets; Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey. One of England’s most famous poems is Wordsworth’s “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, which was inspired by the sight of daffodils on the shores of Ullswater. These wonderful associations is what attracts people to this part of the country, including those who decide to rent a campervan from Easicampers and experience The Lakes in a more free and easy way.
