An Alternative Scotland Campervan Itinerary

Day 1: We start in Edinburgh. Collecting one of our campervans from our Edinburgh depot then heading west up and over the Forth Road Bridge to Bannockburn and Stirling Castle. Just a short drive away from here is the William Wallace Memorial. Be sure to check out the size of Willy’s Claymore as it gives an indication to how big he was. Then head east through to St Andrews for a round of golf and a walk through the town. Stay overnight in the Perth area for Scone Castle.

Day 2: Head straight up to Inverness via the picturesque town of Pitlochory. When in Inverness try to find the Lochness monster on Lochness or visit the Culloden where the last major battle in the UK took place. You can easily spend a day in the Inverness area.

Day 3: The next day head north to John o’Groats through some of the most amazing barren countryside you will ever see. Stay overnight in John o’Groats area.

Day 4 & 5: That Morning continue west to Ullapool. If you’re travelling in July check out the local Highland Games or alternatively the Loopallu music festival. At Ullapool head through the stunning Ross County to The Isle of Skye. It’s easy to spend a couple of days here. The Isle of Skye is definitely the place to go sea kayaking or hiking. Just make sure you take plenty of insect repellent for those pesky mosquitos.

Day 6: After the Isle of Skye head south to Fort William and Ben Nevis (The UK’s highest mountain) for some serious hill walking before heading to Glen Coe scene of the Brutal massacre of the McDonald Clan.

Day 7: On the last day drop south west through the Trossach country to Rob Roy’s grave and a wee spot of Hairy Cow spotting or alternatively drive down the western shore of Loch Lomand before finishing in Edinburgh.
