The building of Craigmillar Castle began in the early 15 century and for over the next 250 years the castle became a residence that was surrounded by beautiful gardens and pastureland. There’s so much history behind the castle and it’s not only involved with the city of Edinburgh but is also involved in the story of Mary Queen of Scots, who fled to Craigmillar Castle after the murder of Rizzio, the castle was where the plot was hatched to murder Lord Darnley who was Mary’s husband.

In the castle there is a wide range of private rooms linked to the hall of the old tower, wedding ceremonies take place in the great hall which can fit a total of 60 people.
