Romantic valentine’s trips in Edinburgh

When you think of Valentine’s Day, would you consider a motorhome trip? If your answer was no, well I’m here to change your mind and give you plenty of reasons to enjoy an Easicampers Motorhome in Edinburgh for that romantic time away with the one you love. If your answer was yes, then here are some great ideas for your trip.

So now that you have decided that you want to go on a romantic adventure in a motorhome, you can start to plan your trip.
So when you think of Glamping in your motorhome, what springs to mind? Some people would say muddy shoes and cold beans on toast. I can honestly say that in my experience of going away in a motorhome, I have never had cold beans on toast or muddy shoes for that matter. Whatever your enjoyment is, there are plenty of sites that would suit the muddy shoes type of traveller or the more Glamorous type of traveller. You can plan which site to stay on at this is one of my favourite sites to plan your journey. You can select the type of site, so if you want a pitch with electric points, you can select this & also the distance from where you want to see or go to.

There are some fabulous places to visit in and around Edinburgh, so whether you are an outdoorsy type of traveller or you like the hustle & bustle of the City life, there is plenty to enjoy here. You should plan what you would like to do while in this beautiful City of Edinburgh. So for the love birds, you could enjoy creating a keepsake of your romantic time away together at the ceramic experience, the company has many years of experience in creating the best keepsakes, whether it is a 3D cast or imprint you are looking for, they have it all. You can visit their website for further details & to book on:

If you like having the wind in your hair and enjoy romantic strolls hand in hand, you could take a walk or a romantic sunset stroll up Calton Hill to enjoy the breath-taking views of this lovely City, who knows, if you are planning to pop the question, what a great place to do it, overlooking the stunning views of Edinburgh.

So the main part of your Valentines evening would usually be taking your loved one out for a lovely meal, however, personally I find a cooked meal by my husband has far more meaning and sentiment, they have actually taken the time to prepare and cook the meal for you. The beauty of hiring a motorhome from us here at easicampers is that you have all the luxuries of home, so you have the fridge & freezer to keep the food & wine cool, you have the stove for cooking that special meal and also the oven for cooking. So if you have any ideas of struggling with a small camping stove, get them out of your mind. You can enjoy cooking together and chatting or you could sit with your feet up and a lovely glass of your favourite tipple while your other half prepares a lovely meal for you. Pre planning is the key here, you should decide on the meal you would like to prepare, my favourite would be something like Pan fried chicken with a Diane sauce and oven roasted vegetables. Simple but fantastic and with all your utensils provided, you don’t need to stress about taking all your pots & pans with you.

After you have enjoyed your meal together why not entertain yourself with a cosy evening in the motorhome, you could hire one of our portable DVD players and watch a romantic movie together, or if you prefer there is still plenty to do in and around Edinburgh including a visit to the theatre, a snuggle at the cinema or even enjoy an evening at the Observatory where you could see if love is in the stars for you?? The Royal Observatory’s Public Astronomy evenings run on selected Friday evenings up to April. You can check dates and make a booking here

I really hope this helps with that romantic trip away and has given you some Ideas as to how best to plan your trip and enjoy that special time together.

Happy Valentines!!

Glasgow Campsite Tips

Here at Easicampervan Hire we want to give you the best advice and information so you can get the most from a campsite during your Easicampervan holiday.

All campsites facilities are different. Please ask if the campsites you are looking to visit are geared up for camper vans. Grey water and fresh water points are a plus point.

Prices for campsites vary it is always worth paying a little extra to get a pitch including electrical hook-up. The price often varies from season to season and a sites offering bar/shop/swimming pool etc. are usually found to be a little more expensive. Always check the internet for campsite information, reviews and pricing before arriving. Bear in mind during the popular months, some sites will offer a minimum 3-night hire period. This is not unusual but there are lots of sites that don’t.

Arriving at a Campsite

When you arrive go to reception and ask for an available pitch. Reception could be shut (wardens often clean the facilities and maintain the site alone ), so if possible park up the camper van in the appropriate spacing outside the reception block (so as you are not blocking people entering or leaving the site) and walk to find a pitch for yourself and then return to reception to pay. Please note most receptions have instructions on the front door for new arrivals (or a contact number).

Be careful when you look for a vacant pitch because it might be taken already. Usually the owners leave their electric cable or a chair to let you know the pitch has been taken. Some people may have a ‘This pitch is taken/reserved’ plate on a little stick to let others know the pitch has been taken.

Please try to respect these signs and choose your pitch with care to avoid any problems. Some people like being right next to the toilet and shower block, while others prefer to be further away. It is personal preference.

Booking in advance or not?

Depending on the season you might want to book in advance. A good tip is to use an app or POI file on your navigation system, smartphone or iPad if you have one.

We recommend booking sites, just to be sure you have a pitch. The fun however of traveling in a camper van is often not knowing where you are going to end up .

Booking in advance can be a good idea, especially when its high season , and campsites become busier.

Easicampervan hire always advise, our customers to visit a couple of campsites on their travels, mainly to fill up with fresh water, empty your waste water in an appropriate chemical disposal point and take advantage of the facilities while visiting.

Wild Camping

If campsites are full or if you would rather save your money you can always go Wild Camping in Scotland. It’s perfectly legal and a great way to have a cheap holiday. Remember to take all your rubbish away with you and respect other peoples privacy.

Please book online using our Campervan Hire in Glasgow location page now!
