Arthur’s seat is located in Holyrood Park, many people just follow the royal mile until they reach the Queens residence. While walking to the seat you get to see many interesting things and so many breathtaking views. Within Holyrood Park you can also visit a 15th century medieval chapel, St Anthony’s Chapel. The chapel is a fascinating and mysterious feature of Holyrood Park, The remains of the chapel are parts of the north wall.
If you enjoy views but don’t particularly like long walks you can take a visit to Calton Hill, which is also one of the best spots for views across the city. Calton Hill is one of Edinburgh’s main hills which is located next to the city centre. Calton Hill isn’t just famous for its beautiful views, it’s also famous for its collection of historic monuments. Most of the historic monuments form some of the most important landmarks in Edinburgh. The Nelson monument is a tower that is in honour of vice admiral Horatio Nelson, it’s placed on top of Calton Hill and was built between 1807 and 1815. You can climb up the Nelson monument to receive some of the best views of Edinburgh, there is a total of 143 steps to get to the top.
Another great reason why you should visit Edinburgh is to explore the Georgian house museum, The Georgian House Museum gives you an insight of how people lived in Edinburgh during the 18th and early 19th centuries in the new part of town.
