GETTING AROUND

There is no doubt Scotland is a beautiful country to explore and we think that the best way to do it is in a motorhome or one of our campervans. Hiring a motorhome and then taking the ferry to the West Coast Islands or completing the NC 500 is on most peoples bucket list. One can then create some fantastic memories of this beautiful country. You will also find an abundance of stunning cities and historic attractions in Scotland such as Cawdor Castle, Stirling Castle, Eilean Donan and Glamis Castle. Of course there is Edinburgh Castle too. Those who are interested in the Royal Family can pay a visit to their residence in Balmoral.

WHISKY TRAILS

Scotland is an attraction for whisky lovers – you will be spoilt for choice for distilleries in Scotland. The most popular whisky distilleries can be found in the Scottish Highlands specifically Speyside and Islay.

GOLFING

One of the most popular activities in Scotland is golfing. Golfing Fans have an abundance of large resorts to choose from. The Old Course of St Andrews in Scotland is always a popular choice but there are dozens of beautiful courses all over Scotland and prices are very reasonable.

EXPLORING,WALKING AND CYCLING

Bordered by the deep waters of the North Sea on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side, Scotland has a rich history with many historic battlegrounds. Culloden battlefield is a must where the English fought the Scots on the 16th of April 1746. The Jacobite forces, led by Prince Charles Stuart ( Bonnie Prince Charlie) were defeated by the British. It was a tragic defeat and marked the end of Highland Culture as it had been. Scotland also has imposing regal castles as well as six UNESCO world heritage sites making it a truly inspirational place to visit. For those who seek adventure in the great outdoors, the Scottish landscape is simply a magnet for these types of adventurers. Whether you intend to visit Scotland to walk, cycle, or follow the miles of open coasts, you will never forget the place. Outdoor activities in Scotland are in abundance: Loch Lomond, Cairngorms, and the Trossachs are a must-see. And for those of you who like a challenge, why not scale Ben Nevis.

BEACHES

Scotland has several beaches that are hidden treasures and a must-see.The Scottish beaches can be empty even in our summer and they are hidden gems for you to explore.

OVERNIGHTING IN SCOTLAND

Scotland is the only part of the UK where one can “wild camp”, in other words one can camp overnight anywhere you like ( within reason ). It is important though that when wild camping that all litter and rubbish is taken away with you and disposed of in a designated rubbish bin. Wild camping is a privilege that the Scottish government have allowed over the years but if motorhome users continue to abuse the system we are afraid this could be withdrawn and campers will be forced to use camp sites.

It is very easy to find suitable camping sites in Scotland and it is often a good idea to stop overnight on a site to use their facilities, particularly emptying grey water ( from the tank which holds waste water from the sinks and shower). The toilet cassette also will need emptying and all camping sites have a designated tank to take this waste “black” water. It is also good to stop every few days at a camp site to use their showers and facilities such as electric hook up to recharge the leisure batteries.

One book we would highly recommend is written by Martin Dorey titled ” Take the Slow road to Scotland”. This is an amazing book full of ideas and recommendations about touring Scotland. Buy on Amazon and you will have it next day.

We recently hired an AutoTrail 66 Expedition from Edinburgh to do the NC500. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival by Ted and the team. There was a thorough explanation of all the van's features and controls (DO make sure you video this if you're a newbie like me, two days later when you try to remember how to do something it will come in very useful). I'd also recommend this size of van for the NC500, there are a couple of hundred miles of single track road with steep inclines, hairpins and restricted passing places sometimes requiring a bit of reversing. We saw several examples of people with larger vans struggling. Pick up and handback were quick and efficient, there's parking on site if you arrive by car (they even washed the car before we left), and there was an offer of pick up and return to the airport if we chose to fly or get the train( and then tram to the airport). All in all a great experience and we definitely use Easicampers again.

Such an amazing team. So friendly and they went out of their way to help us. Great suggestions, they had food and supplies from other past guests, the vans were great and fitted with everything we needed. They even dropped us off at the tram after. So kind. Would definitely recommend.

We got a very new van (2024 model) in April 2025. Good communication by the Edinburgh branch in the day of location and returning. Car in excellent condition, extra equipment provided was basic but got all we needed. Great experience, recommend to everyone.

Easicampers couldn’t be more accommodating, we were with friends and picked up 2 vans, which were of an excellent standard and did everything we thought they would, they were clean and well set up.The staff were helpful, they really couldn’t do more for us and we were able to contact them when we needed some direction with the vans use and assisted us to resolve our query. We all had an amazing week and would defo recommend Easicamper.com.

I hired a Volkswagen California from Easicampers Edinburgh for a 13 night Scottish road trip with my adult son in Sep-Oct 2022.The van was perfect and the service was friendly. Easicampers thoroughly explained all of the equipment and answered all of our questions before we drove away, then made the check-in process easy when we returned. In between, Scotland hypnotized me with her beauty and hospitality.I just booked 15 van nights to return to Scotland with two traveling companions in June.🥰

We had a wonderfull experience during our roadtrip trough Scotland last autumn. We were lucky explore the country with the VW California (due to an upgrade) and we were more than happy with with this luxury and spacious campervan. The communication from Easicampers was excellent and we received clear instructions upon departure. During our road trip, Easicampers was easily accessible by telephone to answer questions. We had a great time, doing a lot of wild camping, waking up to beautiful, dreamy views from the campervan. We had a great time. Easicampers, thank you!

Used Easicampers for a week long rental. Great company. Ted allowed us to pick up the van early and threw in some gas for free. Slight mix up in our pick up day but Debbie sorted everything out, coming in on her day off to do so. Liam checked us back in on our return. All straightforward and efficient. No problems at all with van and very reasonable price. Will definitely use again.

We used EasiCamper for our holiday in Scotland. These guys are awesome! Debbie got us all set up and showed us the van and she was amazing. The vans are in great shape and very nice! Liam and Jordan helped us when returning the van and they were also wonderful! They also set us up with a taxi to get back to town and some great recommendations on where to go while in Edinburgh! Thank you guys for everything! You made our trip fantastic!

Look no further for campervan hire in Scotland!!!!We just finished our 25 day road trip around Scotland in the VW California Ocean and couldn't have wished for a better experience. We chose Easicampers due to the significant price difference to other Edinburgh based van hire companies. Not only was the price lower but the quality of the van was much better too. Debbie did a fantastic job administering the process, and the young fella did a wonderful job of explaining the technical aspects of the van.The van was perfect for two of us but could comfortably accommodate 1 or 2 children. All the flashy features on the van worked seamlessly without one hiccup the entire 25 days. The van was increadibly fuel efficient despite the amount of miles we clocked up.I would highly recommend Easicampers to anyone who is considering a road trip around Scotland. Here are a few snaps from our trip.
