Camping experience

Camping gives you the chance to get outdoors and immerse yourselves in mother nature. If you’re pitching a tent or taking a motorhome it will be an  experience, you will not forget. There is no shortage of exploration awaiting campers in the Lake District. Home to England’s tallest peak, Scafell Pike, and Wastwater, its deepest lake, it’s easy to see that the Lake District is synonymous with outdoor recreation. Getting out amongst the elements is one thing but eating and sleeping amongst them is something else altogether. Camping brings your self-powered adventures to the next level. By camping in the Lake District, you get to partake in all the outdoor recreation that exists day after day. 

Where to go?

With the lake District covering 2362km2 of space, you might be thinking about where to go to get the best experience.  If you’re looking for a hiking experience then you might feel best basing yourself near Scafell Pike, this is known as a bucket list climb for many in the UK and holds an amazing 360 view at the peak of the mountain.  However, there are plenty of impressive hikes to do no matter where you choose to base yourself.  

If it’s a family holiday you’re after the Church Stile could be the option for you.  There’s a playground for the kids at the site and just a short distance away from many walking trails such as; Seatallan, Red Pike, Pillar and Scoat Fell. Here you are also a short drive away from Wasdale Trailhead for Scafell Pike and Wastwater Lake. If you’re not keen on cooking your meals, then don’t worry there are plenty of local pubs and restaurants on your doorstep.

Maybe you’d like to stay in one of the local towns to experience their culture and history. The historic market town of Penrith is the shopping, business and social centre of Eden District. With easy access to the beautiful Eden Valley, the Pennines and Lake District, we truly are at the heart of Cumbria. Campsites also surround the town if you want your full outdoor experience.
