New Years Resolutions

As the last twinkling lights of Christmas fade and the remnants of family celebrations are packed away, a new year begins. The air is filled with hope and ambition, with promises and resolutions crafted to make the next twelve months brighter, better, and more fulfilling than the last. This year, my resolution is one I’ve whispered to myself countless times but never fully embraced: Make time for me.

Life has a way of pulling us in every direction but the one that leads inward. Work, family, social obligations, and the daily hustle leave little room for self-care. But this year, I am determined to prioritise myself. To carve out time to recharge, to nurture my passions, and to simply be. And I have a plan to do it—a plan that involves adventure, nostalgia, and discovery.

First on my list: hire a camper van. There’s something liberating about the idea of packing up a small space with the essentials and hitting the open road. A camper van represents freedom, the chance to escape routine and embrace the unknown. It’s about making space for spontaneity and exploration, where the journey itself becomes just as rewarding as the destination.

With my trusty camper van, I’ll visit old friends who have fallen to the wayside of my too-busy schedule. Relationships that once flourished deserve tending, and there’s no better way to reconnect than by showing up on their doorstep, ready to reminisce and make new memories. Perhaps we’ll share stories over a cup of coffee or take a walk through familiar haunts. These visits will remind me of the bonds that have shaped me and the joy that comes from meaningful connection.

But this journey won’t only be about looking back. I’ll also chart a course for places I’ve never been. There’s a thrill in discovering the unfamiliar—new towns, scenic landscapes, and hidden gems waiting to be explored. Each stop will be a chance to pause, reflect, and immerse myself in the moment. Whether it’s watching a sunrise over a quiet beach or wandering through a bustling market, these experiences will be my time, on my terms.

And in between these adventures, there will be quiet moments of self-care. Time to read that book I’ve been meaning to start, to write my thoughts in a journal, or to simply sit in stillness and listen to the world around me. It’s in these pauses that I’ll find balance and remind myself why making time for me matters so much.

The beauty of this resolution lies in its simplicity and its profound impact. By prioritising myself, I’ll have more energy and joy to share with others. By taking time out, I’ll return to my daily life with renewed perspective and purpose. And by keeping this promise to myself, I’ll finally break the cycle of empty resolutions.

So here’s to the new year—to promises kept and dreams realised. Here’s to camper vans, old friends, new places, and the beautiful journey of looking after ourselves. This year, I’m making time for me. And I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

Pack up the Family and Gifts, it’s Christmas!

Hire a Motorhome and have a family Christmas trip to remember.

Decking the Halls: Decorating Your Motorhome

Transform your motorhome into a festive haven to keep the Christmas spirit alive on the road. Here’s how:

  1. Mini Christmas Tree
A tabletop tree is perfect for small spaces. Decorate it with lightweight ornaments and battery-powered fairy lights.
  2. Festive Garlands and Lights
String garlands and twinkling lights around windows, cabinets, and the dashboard. Suction hooks and removable adhesive strips work wonders for securing decorations without causing damage.
  3. Cosy Textiles
Add Christmas-themed blankets, cushions, and throws to create a warm and inviting space.
  4. Seasonal Scents
Use Christmas-scented candles, essential oils, or air fresheners to evoke the smells of Christmas—think cinnamon, pine, and gingerbread.
  5. Personal Touches
Hang stockings for each family member and include personalised items like family photos or handmade ornaments.

Packing the Essentials: Gifts, Food, and Cheer

No Christmas road trip is complete without the essentials:

  • Presents: Wrap gifts ahead of time and pack them securely to avoid damage during travel. Use soft luggage or storage bins to keep them organized.
  • Food and Drink: Prepare a mix of travel-friendly meals and traditional Christmas dishes. Don’t forget festive treats like mince pies, cookies, and a bottle of bubbly.
  • Entertainment: Load up on Christmas movies, music playlists, and board games to enjoy together during downtime.
  • Emergency Supplies: Keep a toolkit, first-aid kit, and extra blankets on hand for winter travel.

The Journey: Making the Most of the Road Trip

The journey is as important as the destination. Here are tips for a stress-free and enjoyable trip:

  • Plan Your Route: Map out your stops in advance, including scenic detours and places to rest.
  • Create New Traditions: Sing carols en route, make pit stops to build snowmen (if it snows!), or enjoy a roadside picnic with hot chocolate.
  • Capture Memories: Document your adventure with photos and videos to cherish for years to come.
  • Christmas Jumpers: Don’t forget the obligatory Christmas jumpers and twinkling hats!

Arriving with Christmas Spirit

When you reach your destination, your motorhome becomes an extension of the celebration. Unload gifts, share homemade goodies, and enjoy the warmth of family and friends. With your motorhome decked out in festive splendour, it’s sure to be a conversation starter and a cosy retreat for quiet moments.

Why a Christmas Motorhome Adventure?

This unique way of celebrating Christmas blends the joy of travel with the comforts of tradition. It’s an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle, immerse yourself in Christmas spirit, and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

So, this year, why not trade in the usual Christmas routine for an adventure on wheels? Load up the presents, pack your Christmas cheer, and hit the road for a festive journey that embodies the true meaning of Christmas: love, laughter, and togetherness.
