Heading south from Edinburgh, we ventured into the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders with our motorhome which we hire from the team before making our way to the vibrant city of Edinburgh.
Our first stop was Melrose, home to the stunning Melrose Abbey, before heading to North Berwick for some beach time call in to Kelso and have a wander round a historic town centre that radiates out from the largest cobbled town square in Scotland overlooked by elegant Georgian and Victorian buildings. Kelso boasts a spectacular shopping experience, alongside high street names there are more than 50 independent speciality shops from an ice cream parlour to traditional butchers, and country clothing to gift boutiques.
As a seaside town, North Berwick boasts classic fish and chip shops and ice cream parlours, as well as quirky tearooms, trendy coffee shops and an array of creative, boutique and independent shopping experiences.
There’s plenty to keep you entertained, with boat trips around the local islands, putting greens, playgrounds, tennis courts and other sporting activities. Why not take a swing at a golf club, such as North Berwick, Glen, or the nearby Muirfield?
Head north up the A1 coastal road in your hire motorhome and you will arrive back in Edinburgh, we parked up at Morton hall Caravan Park, offering easy access to the city.
Highlights included a tour of Edinburgh Castle, a walk up Arthur’s Seat, and exploring the hidden gems of the Royal Mile. This trip blended cultural exploration with scenic countryside stops, making for an unforgettable summer holiday
