Motorhome hire for the most magical places in wales

Looking for a motorhome or camper van then why not come down to us here at Easicampers wigan, we have available the new ford zefiro 675 and 690 which are 6 berth and also the VW California Ocean these are 4 berth so perfect for you tour of the magical places in wales

Fairy Glen

Firstly there is Fairy Glen, in welsh it is called Hud Ffos Noddun which translates as magic deep ditch. The cascades bend through the rocks and rapids down past the village of Betws Y Coed and eventually into the woodland and sea. Fairy Glen is a secluded gorge and beauty spot on the Conwy River.

It’s just off the A470, near the intersection with the A5 – there is a small car park nearby – turn left just after the Fairy Glen Hotel (but not into the hotel car park!), and it’s reached down a small track. You then have to walk for about 15 minutes to get to Fairy Glen itself.
There is a small admission fee of 50p per person to cover maintenance of the footpaths.

Dan-yr-ogof

There are ten attractions all included in the one entry ticket, and there is plenty to see and do for all ages.

The 3 different caves Dan-yr-Ogof, Cathedral Cave and Bone Cave each offer a unique underground experience. In Dan-yr-Ogof you walk through the beautifully decorated passageways for just under 1 kilometre in Cathedral Cave you walk through its enormous caverns, carved out millions of years ago, and at the end of this cave experience the excitement of walking behind the 40 feet high waterfalls that cascade around you in the ‘Dome of St Paul’s’, an atmospheric end to a truly wonderful cave; and in Bone Cave learn why 42 human skeletons were buried there, and how our ancestors used caves all those years ago.
On site there is one of the world’s largest collections of life-sized dinosaur models, ranging from the ever popular Tyrannosaurus Rex and Brachiosaurs, to the lesser-known Tsintaosaurus. There are over 200 models here.

Tin tern abbey

Tin tern is famous for its abbey and for the poets and painters such as Wordsworth and Turner who visited it two hundred years ago in the Romantic period. It is indeed a wonderfully romantic place, lying on the Welsh side of the winding valley of the River Wye between Chepstow and Monmouth. But it also has a fascinating history which is not often known to the many visitors who come here to enjoy its picturesque beauty

Dinoorwic quarry

Dinorwic Quarry is next on our list with its old mine shafts and blue lagoon at the base of the steep slope it looks like something from an old medieval fortress. The quarry its self is only open on one side and has multiple ways to be able to get from the top or the bottom including a jump from the top into the lagoon (not advised) which is very popular among the trained professionals. At one point it was the biggest quarry in Europe producing over 100,000 tonnes of slate a year. However, with modern day technology it has become dated and abandoned making it perfect for the explorer.

If you wish to book a campervan or motorhome please do not hesitate to contact us here at Easicampers wigan on 01942 821080.

Motor home and campervan hire

So if you are taking one of our Easicampers vw California’s of ford zefiros abroad in the summer here are a few things you may not know:

Drive on the right

This may seem an obvious one but when you’re in the holiday mood or you stop for lunch and then hit the road again it’s easy to forget this rule. Even if you need to write it on your hand for the first few days, do it. Anything is better than getting this one wrong!
Use a map or Satnav Don’t assume you know where you are going just because you went there ten years ago. Roads change, motorways get built, new towns appear… and being lost on holiday is just wasted leisure time so make sure you can always get to where to you want to be. If your vehicle has Satnav, great, but do check you have programmed it with the most up-to-date maps of Europe (and always carry a map just in case). If your car or motorhome doesn’t have Satnav, then you can rent one of those you stick to the dashboard or windscreen from our Easicampers depot. Oh, and do remember that radar detectors are illegal in every European country.

Loose Change

Now this is a little tip that could save your hours of queuing. Many countries in Europe have toll roads so make sure you have lots of change ready so you can whizz through the barriers. And make sure you have the right currency as well.

The Unexpected

Motorhome insurance is essential and your motor home will be insured with us here at Easicampers wigan (this is included in the price) but it’s a really good idea to make sure you’re covered for every eventuality before you travel, especially if you’re taking children with you.

Always prepare for the unexpected. One of the many bonuses of hiring a motorhome is that you have more room for your luggage so pack for hot weather, cold weather, wet weather, the lot. And remember your adaptors and phone chargers (for emergencies if nothing else). It’s also a good idea to take your EHIC card with you on holiday (if you’re a UK resident).
Talking about being prepared, the list below will help you adhere to the various laws each country has in place across Europe: country (and take a spare just in case)
• A warning triangle
• Reflective jacket
• First aid kit
• Fire extinguisher
• Headlight converters
• Breathalyser (when driving in France)
• Spare prescription glasses (if required for the driver when driving in Switzerland)

The Rules

Driving laws and regulations differ from country to country. One of the most important is a driver’s age as some countries let teenagers drive when they are 18, some when they’re 17. So you could scoot across from Portugal to Spain and suddenly find yourself breaking the law. And another thing – every country issues on-the-spot-fines!
Your documentation should always be on hand to show to the authorities. You’ll need to take your original registration documentation insurance papers and driving licence. Doing this will make any interruptions quicker and easier to deal with.

If you have not yet booked you motorhome or campervan, or would like more information then please do not hesitate to contact us on 01942 821080 and we will be happy to help further.

Motorhome hire for Easter

Motorhome Hire in Yorkshire has become more and more popular in recent years due to the simple fact that motorhome holidays in Yorkshire are always amazing. However, Yorkshire has a lot to offer the motorhome holidaymaker that you may simply not have heard of yet. There is a wide range of unusual activities and locations that are locked away like a secret within the county, here are a few of them I have put together for you

Pot Holing
Caving and pot holing is basically a sport where you would rope up and head into caves. Exploring underground caverns, heading through subterranean streams, rock climbing and even abseiling. Yorkshire is home to some of the largest underground cave systems in the UK meaning that there is certainly a lot for you to explore.

The cold war bunker
The cold war bunker is set in the city of York only a short journey from the city centre, this in turn makes it very easy to find and visit all year round. The bunker its self is now a museum that gives you a lot of insight into the work that was done here and the threat of invasion during the cold war, well worth a visit for anybody interested in British military history.

Dalby forest
Dalby Forest is a forest located in Yorkshire, the forest its self is a bit sportier than other forests in the UK and offers a wide variety of activities and sports available for a visitor. Things such as horse riding and mountain biking are all easily available and highly recommended, more so with the forest having a rigid terrain. There is a campsite within the forest called Stone close campsite, this is motorhome friendly.

The Shambles
The Shambles is a street in Yorkshire that allows you to be able to have the feeling of being a part of 14th century England. The street its self is a mix of medieval buildings and maintains this 14th century aesthetic through hanging signs, aged wood and timber frame buildings. The street even has some butcher shops and other stores that are over 200 years old. Acomb Garage once again would be one of the best motorhome campsites to be staying at if you were visiting this location.

Eden Camp
Eden Camp is a military museum that was built after the Second World War, the museum its self gives you an insight into how life was at the time and the goings on during the war. There is a wide range on offer from looking at the old vehicles to looking through the old headquarters and control rooms.
If you are considering a motorhome holiday in Yorkshire this year, then why not take a look through our entire range of motorhomes and campervans here at Easicampers wigan to be able to see which motorhome or campervan is perfect for you. In the first century BC an Iron Age Belgic tribe built a settlement on what is now Castle Hill. Around AD40 the Romans took over the site and it became the crossing point for the Via Devana which linked Colchester with the legions in Lincoln and beyond. The Saxons followed, then the Normans under William the Conqueror, who raised a castle on a steep mound as a base for fighting the Saxon rebel, Hereward the Wake, deep in the Fens at Ely. The motte of William’s castle still stands and Ely Cathedral is visible from the top on a clear day.

Sites to visit while situated on the outskirts of London

It needn’t cost a lot to get out and about, with 238 attractions that are completely free to enter there’s nowhere else in the world where you can see so much for so little. Visit everything from the thousands of historic exhibits at the British Museum to the stately Kenwood House, the award-winning Imperial War Museum or even Hackney City Farm.

The British Museum, V&A, Natural History Museum and Science Museum can each take a day to explore, but you will still be inspired if you only have a couple of hours to spare. As well as famous permanent exhibits, look out for topical displays featuring a variety of special interest subjects. ‘Interaction’ is the key to many of these so you don’t just stand and stare.
London’s more famous attractions such as the British Airways London Eye and Madame Tussauds are well worth visiting if you’ve never been before, but you can also branch out and visit some less well known attractions. Places like Kensington Palace, Dali Universe and the Photographers’ Gallery also have much to offer.

If there aren’t enough hours in the day to explore as much as you’d like, take in late night opening on Friday or Saturday nights at some of London’s top galleries and museums such as Tate Modern, Saatchi Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts and National Portrait Gallery.

BFI London IMAX Cinema, Dali Universe and Geffrye Museum are some of hundreds of attractions for people with special needs. Although all attractions are not 100% accessible for wheelchair users, many make extra efforts for individual requirements such as signed shows for the deaf, induction loops, Braille guides, as well as special tours for those with learning difficulties.
143 registered parks and gardens. Short walking paths and nature trails can be found in places like Hampstead Heath and Mile End Park, and at the end of an exhausting day walking, they’re a great spot for a picnic – weather permitting!
Just south of the River Thames is Battersea Park, featuring a Japanese Pagoda which was a gift to the nation. Or head further out to Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew where you can explore four acres of magnificent conservatories displaying plants from rainforest to desert.

Friday Day 29

Heathrow Depot
After breakfast you need to meet the Easicampers Staff at 10.00hrs, to hand your campervan over, and talk about your experiences on the road.

The VW California – a great option for your adventures with friends & family

Volkswagon are well known for being one of the leading names in producing campervans. The VW is world renowned, respected, collected and loved. Here in this article we are going to give a bit of information on the VW California Campervan.

The VW California Campervan is an up to date van which VW manufacture themselves in Germany. Sometimes affectionately known as the ‘Cali’, by it’s owners, this van is a compact campervan that is well designed for living on the road, stopping at campsites, and all sorts of other travel and adventure. It has enough room to comfortably sleep four adults, an electronic pop-up roof which provides extra height, and it has a useful kitchen consisting of a sink, fridge, and cooking hob. Within the van, there is ample storage and seating for everyone. The driver and front seats turn around to meet a table, and there are also external chairs and tables that fit neatly into an allocated space in the rear.

The practicality for both touring and camping at campsites is more than adequate. The overall design is slick and modern and easy to drive, making it extremely easy to be driven around as an everyday vehicle too. It conveniently comes in both manual or automatic drive. Inside the ‘Cali’ campervan it is light and modern and a world away from the older campervans.

To hire a campervan such as the VW California is a great way to either sample the vehicle for yourself and test out how the van’s features suit you and your family. It is also a great way to holiday or travel in itself, without the expense or commitment. By hiring the campervan it would mean there is no wait time, (times for manufacture and import are not always fast), and also any issues have already been ironed out for you, so you are using a van that has been tried and tested for good working order.

Hiring the VW Campervan is a great option for your adventures with friends or family, Just give Easicampers a call and let your adventure begin.

The Great British Festival

We all love a good festival. The bands, the vibe, the experience.! The Great British festival is more popular than ever before, but that doesn’t make the long-drop loos and mud pits any more enjoyable. For some festival-goers the stench and the rubbish British weather are all part of the fun, but for those of us who prefer not to sleep in a quagmire next to a dodgy toilet, there is an alternative – and no – we’re not talking about “glamping”.

We’re talking about festival campervan hire. UK and globally, attending your favourite festivals in style has never been easier or more fun . Instead of freezing in a barely waterproof tent, the camper van allows you to bring all of your home comforts to the festival field., a dry comfortable bed, cooking facilities and a fridge to keep your beer cold (just don’t forget your generator – few festival pitches offer electricity). For a 5* festival experience, campervan hire is the best way to go.
