Saving money on your motor home holiday

More and more families in the UK are now choosing to go on motorhome holidays in order to save money. Now just because going on a motorhome holiday is generally cheaper than flying to another country and staying in a hotel, if you’re not careful you could end up spending more than you budgeted. So Easicampers wigan has put together a plan which should hopefully save you some money.

Plan your location carefully

One of the great things about motorhomes is that they enable you to travel wherever you want, and for most people they take full advantage of this by traveling across Europe multiple times a year. However, the cost of your holiday can sometimes increase dramatically depending on where you travel to as some places will cost more to stay in than others.

Save on petrol

The biggest cost of a motorhome holiday is usually petrol, especially if you are planning a long distance journey. Fortunately, petrol prices have been decreasing in the UK recently, which means that you will pay less than in recent years. However, not all petrol stations offer the same amount of savings as others, which is why you need to make sure you don’t just stop off at the first one you see.

Create an itinerary

Most families love going on motorhome holidays as it gives them a time to bond as a family and for those that go on their own it gives them a sense of freedom and the ability to be spontaneous. So then we are going to suggest to you that you create an itinerary it may seem like a strange idea. However, if you are really trying to save some money it’s wise to have an idea of what you want to do when you get to your holiday destination. So if you can plan roughly what you are thinking of doing each day of your holiday this will help you to set your budget accordingly.

Have a back-up plan

When setting off on your holiday you will be full of excitement which means that you can sometimes forget the important things. For example, when was the last time you topped up your motorhomes oil and water levels or checked the tyre pressures? Easicampers wigan will ensure all this is done for you before you set off. you are covered with breakdown  assistance and will receive a copy of the number when  you collect your motorhome.

Saving money on your motorhome holiday can be easy as long as you spend some time planning your holiday and by doing some research. Furthermore if you can plan as much as you can before you leave you will be able to enjoy yourself a lot more when you get there.

If you would like to book a motorhome then look no further than Easicampers wigan we have  brand new 6 berth ford zefiro  motorhomes  available to hire, so give the team a call on 01942 77 88 99 we will be more than happy to help you make your booking.

the warmest places to visit in Europe.

Over at Easicampers wigan we have camper vans and motor homes to hire and take abroad. Our campervans and motorhomes are set up ready to enjoy the winter sun in Europe.

Portugal-The warmest place during winter. Because of this it is popular, and some areas can be crowded with many camper vans and motorhomes. Some people like this, as you can easy meet people, make new friends and gain traveling companions. It is easy to find areas to yourself if this is your sort of thing. Most days are sunny during the winter in The Algarve. Late December and January are the coldest periods. Most people can enjoy not having to wear a jumper during this time. Some days are cooler, especially if there is a breeze. During the night however, the temperatures can be much cooler. You should bring plenty of warm bedding if staying during this cool period. Few people use heating in their vehicles, even at night. By February good warm weather is a daily occurrence. The Algarve has a good number of storms during the winter months. Portugal is the cheapest country in which to spend the winter months.
christmas in the Algarve-fancy a Christmas break in a campervan or motorhome then why not head to the Algarve and celebrate a relaxing Christmas, there are pubs that serve the traditional Christmas dinner in the resort areas of Faro, Albufera, Lagos and Luz, and somewhere to meet people and have a drink. New Year’s Eve is a similar affair, with the same resorts providing good entertainment. Albufera, in particular, offers a big night of entertainment on New Year’s Eve, with a free outdoor concert, featuring pop artists.

Spain – the southern coast of Spain remains almost as warm as the Algarve. Lapped by the Mediterranean Sea, it avoids most of the Atlantic storms. This area is less crowded in winter than The Algarve. Few people use heating in their vehicles.

south of France-  Although not as warm as other places mentioned here, it is popular with some travellers. It escapes most of the winter storms. There are some fantastic spots to visit in southern France like the vineyards, city of Nimes, the abbaye de senque, the perched village of gordes just to name a few places you may like to visit on your holiday

Southern italy-  The extensive coastline of southern Italy remains fairly warm during the winter. The island of Sicily is the warmest. There isn’t really a season in which you shouldn’t visit Sicily. There are a range of things to do in Sicily  all year round with festivals being celebrated, different foods to enjoy and the mild Mediterranean climate providing the ideal backdrop – making Sicily a great place to enjoy all year round.

If you wish to hire one of our fantastic new campervans or motorhomes then please do not hesitate to contact us over a Easicampers wigan to make your booking on 01942 821080.

Winter travel.

When it comes to motorhome or campervan holidays in the autumn, winter and the more northern regions of the UK, the weather can become very cold and in turn, you may be swayed away from travelling in this time of year or heading north to the northern regions of Scotland. Plus, with the colder months only around the corner, knows a few ways to be able to avoid the concerns and enjoy your motorhome holiday in the colder climate. People love this time of year as it isn’t as busy in the summer and there’s not as much traffic on the road.  We have availability for both the campervan and motorhome over at Easicampers wigan

Traffic

Regardless of the location you are considering a holiday too, when the colder weather begins to take hold of the area it tends to begin to thin out the crowds and prevent people wanting to head to those said locations. However, what they don’t realise is that in the colder months there are significantly less crowds so a whole load of activities become a lot more pleasant. For example if you’re heading to a theme park you can expect to wait for less time.

Seasonal Aesthetics

Every location in the UK and the majority of Europe changes significantly in the seasonal move from summer to winter. Things such as the fall of snow in North Scotland, The frozen lakes in Cumbria and the mist that settles on the Yorkshire Dales  all seem to tie together to bring you a whole new aesthetic that millions of people miss during the summer months. Then there is the added bonus of there being less people in the colder regions and months. In turn, there are less people spoiling any views you may have of the landscape if you are heading to a rural location or any debris they may leave behind from their motorhome holidays or camping trips.

Different Activities

The winter brings an array of different activities through the country; indoor activities seem to flourish whilst the majority of outdoor activities and sport seem to die off with only a few exceptions.

An example of this flourish in winter sports is skiing, which becomes available in Northern Scotland during the colder months and brings in people from all over the region. However, with many people, opting to travel out of the UK for a ski break simply as they do not realise Scotland has ski resorts, it can be fairly empty during the winter months and in turn, you can usually very easily get a few runs in during the day without long waits.

Prepare Different

Preparation is key for a motorhome get away and preparing for a winter get away is always harder than a summer. You will need to consider things such as extra blankets, thicker coats, lots of changes of clothes for getting wet, emergency kits for if you were to break down, warm food and a wide selection of other things. Packing the same items you would in the summer will result in you being cold when you are doing day-to-day activities out of the motorhome. All of Easicampers motorhomes and campervans  have winter installation, so you should be fine as far as keeping warm in the motorhome or campervan, however it is better to be comfortable and cosy in the night after a long day exploring so extra blankets and other items are still very necessary.

If you are considering a winter break then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us over at Easicampers wigan to make your booking or if you require any further information.

Travelling to the Alps.

When it comes to travelling to the Alps, there is little better than getting there on the open road. The snow-capped peaks rushing past you as you take in the breath taking views of north France from the Alpine peaks making everything so much more aesthetically pleasing.

So why not hire one of Easicamperss new motorhomes or campervans and take the open road to the Alps this winter.

The Price Difference

Going skiing in the Alps can be a very expensive ordeal when you include the price of the flights, hotel and added extras such as airport taxes and luggage.  The flights will come in at around £100 minimum at that time of year and the hotels will average out at around £40-80 a night per person. This in turn means that after a seven-day stay, your holiday can easily come in at around the £500 mark per head. Then take into account your group size and you have a massive bill.

Now consider a motorhome journey, getting a better experience with more freedom and control over your journey for a lower price

The Journey Becomes the Destination

The journey to the Alps passes through beautiful landscapes and rigid terrain that offers breath-taking views of England, France and parts of Switzerland. The rolling country side of Staffordshire and the south of England, then followed by the rolling hills and more rigid country side of France and the quaint little villages that France offers. Finally accompanied by snow-capped peaks that boast epic views over France, Switzerland and Italy.

The journey is also more forgiving to pit stops and overnight stays in villages or cities along the way. The motorhome allows you to do this at no extra cost, so you can get out and explore what France and the Alps have on offer for the intrepid explorer or modern family alike. There is also Paris or the tourist locations along the way that could be of interest; this in turn allows you to make every location along the way the destination to be able to help you make the most of your family get away.

The Quality Time Together

When you are getting a plane, you do not have the chance to be able to talk and converse with your family or friends in the same way you do in a motorhome. In a motorhome you are with your family or friends on the entire journey, this gives you time alone without external noise from the other passengers and you are in your own little zone. In this environment, you can really come out of your shell and hold in-depth meaningful conversation, have a laugh amongst friends or talk about memories and reminisce in the past. Either way a motorhome opens possibilities to you that are simply not available in flight.

More Luggage

When you are going skiing, you are going to need to be able to bring more luggage than you would on a normal summer sun holiday, this in turn makes a motorhome perfect. There is more than enough room in the cabin to be able to store everything you need for the journey and for when you hit the slopes. Things like warm clothing, skis, food supplies, drinks, gadgets and much more can all be stowed away in the cabin or in the storage units in the under base of the motorhome and in turn avoids the large baggage charges that would occur at the airport or the train station if you were to catch the euro star.

All taken into account, the motorhome trip works out a lot more beneficial for your budget, luxury and quality time with your family.

Please do not hesitate to contact us on 01942 77 88 99 if you require any information about taking your motorhome of campervan abroad or wish to make a booking we will be more than happy to help you make your booking, for that winter trip.

Top beaches in the UK to visit in a motorhome or campervan.

With 11,073 miles of coastline, the UK has quite a few beaches for visitors on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday to discover. Over at Easicampers Wigan we have motorhomes  and campervans to suit all whether you’re planning a last minute break away or a family holiday for availability please give Easicampers Wigan a call on 01942 821080.

Here I have listed a few beaches so you can have a look and see which ones you may want to visit on your break.

Best swimming beach – West Wittering, Sussex.  An award winning Blue Flag beach, West Wittering and its neighbour East Head are hard to beat.  These beautiful sandy beaches are totally unspoiled, and even during the summer holidays its peaceful and relaxing.  The gently shelving beach makes for safe and warm water, great for swimming.

Best walking beach – Holywell Bay, Cornwall.  A short distance from the popular resort of Newquay, Holywell Bay is best visited at low tide where visitors can enjoy a long walk past the 70 year old shipwreck which can be seen just offshore.

Best beach for building sandcastles – Barafundle, Pembrokeshire.  Voted Britain’s best beach by the ‘Good Holiday Guide’, Barafundle is the best beach for kids because the sand is perfect and just the right consistency for making sandcastles.

Best beach for spotting celebrities – Rock, Cornwall.  Just across the estuary from the picturesque fishing village of Padstow, Rock is the place to see, and be seen.  This part of Cornwall is home to the most millionaires, and if you’re lucky you might even bump into Prince’s William and Harry.

Best traditional family beach – Scarborough, North Yorkshire.  Scarborough has been popular holiday resort since the 17th century.  The beaches here are sandy and safe, and there’s lots of room to run about.  What also makes the beaches here popular are the fish and chip shops along the seafront, why not hire a deckchair, tie a handkerchief around you head like they did in the ‘old days’.

Best surfing beach – Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall.  Fistral Beach is the epicentre of UK surfing, and home to the British Surfing Association which hosts the largest surfing event in the country every August.  It’s not just for pro’s, if you want to have a go there are lots of surf shops who run short courses.

The most northerly beach in the UK – Skaw, Shetland Islands.  If you’re into bird watching this is the place to come, the area is home to an amazing amount of gannets, fulmars, petrels, and kittiwakes.  If you’re very lucky you can also see whales, dolphins, and seals too.

Overall most beautiful beach – Calgary Bay, Isle of Mull.  The water may be cold here, but the scenery is outstanding, and when the sun shines it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK.  The clear turquoise waters and white sand are perfect for families, it’s never too busy, and it’s just beautiful.

All these beach areas are geared up to visitors with campervan hire or motorhome rental vehicles and the island resorts are easily accessible by regular ferry crossings. For any further enquiries please do not hesitate to give the Easicampers team a call on 01942 821080 and we will be happy to help you book your motorhome or campervan.

holidays with friends

Looking at going away with friends  this summer then why not hire one of our motorhomes or campervans from wigan Easicampers.

Holidays are fun with friends, but living in the close quarters of a motorhome means getting a long so here are our tips on planning the best group motorhome holiday.

Touring with a group can be difficult as every person will have a different opinion on different aspects of the trip and what one person may love another will hate. So it is important to know how to plan a motorhome or campervan get away in a group and for that reason, here are five ways to be able to make a group motorhome getaway success.

Get the Group Right

A group motorhome holiday needs everybody in the group to love the holiday and all get along and this means taking some time to be able to select the right people for the holiday to ensure that everybody has similar interests and wants. Taking adrenaline junkies, people who love to sit and relax and a city lover all on the same holiday is a recipe for disaster simply as everybody will want different things from the break and may not be willing to try new things. Ensuring you do this step properly should make the rest of the planning process significantly simpler.

Time and Money

Not everybody in the group is going to be able to get the same amount of time and money to put forward to the holiday. Differences in responsibilities at home and in the work place could significantly alter the ability to take a long motorhome holiday and limit some bodies time away. Whilst differences in outgoings, wages and savings could limit people’s budgets for the holidays and in turn prevent them from being able to do something or attend some of the more expensive attractions, or in some cases even limit their time away.

Plan the Route

Planning the route should be a big part of the process as well; you will need to make sure you plan to be able to fit the budgets and time frames that you discussed in the earlier step to be fair on everybody going. Whilst at the same time you will also have to find attractions on the route and around the destination to be able to plan and find things everybody in the group likes. This can be difficult due to the wide range of tastes that your group may be accommodating. However, there is nothing stopping your group splitting into smaller groups when you reach a destination to be able to do different things and make the most of the holiday before meeting up again in the evenings.

Book the Holiday

When you have decided the route and have all of the attractions and budgets, you should begin booking the attractions and campsites in advance to be able to avoid disappointment when you reach your locations. This should be done as early as possible as booking early can often give you some form of discount and in turn make the whole holiday that little bit more economically friendly.

Remember, you’ll also need to book your motorhome with Easicampers wigan and this means that you’ll need to ensure that you have enough room in the motorhome, it has a high enough berth and there’s enough storage to be able to keep all your food and belongings on the motorhome. If you book a viewing with the wigan depot, they will be more than happy to show you around the motorhomes and in turn, you will have a better idea on which motorhome or campervan is best for you. Please contact us on 01942 77 88 99.

Wild Camping in the UK

Here at Easicampers wigan we have availability on our 6 berth and 4 berth motorhomes we also have 4 berth vw California’s available to rent from our wigan Preston and Blackburn depots or can deliver on request.

Here I have found some wild camping places in the uk I thought maybe of interest to you if you are thinking of taking a relaxing trip around the uk.

Wild camping in the UK can be one of the most aesthetically rewarding holidays you can take part in, especially in an Easicampers motorhome or campervan. A wide array of smaller activities and rural locations makes for amazing views in a tranquil and relaxing environment. So take a look at our range of amazing British wild camping locations if you want to be able to make the most from your wild camping trip.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor is an amazing national park in the South of England that unlike other locations in England, allows wild camping to a variety of people. Wild camping in Dartmoor is legal and widely available so long as you do not stay in the same spot for more than two consecutative nights (to prevent damage to ground and shadow vegetation.)This wild camping location is fairly unknown by the general public, as the general rule of thumb is that wild camping is only available in Scotland, so in turn there is usually a lack of people wild camping in the area and it’s very easy to find a untouched and tranquil spot to spend the night.

Dartmoor has a warmer climate than any other wild camping locations in the UK due to its southern position and in turn allows more heat. The park its self has a huge amount of small stone built structures such as various bridges and cottages, which all add to the over aesthetic of the national park.

Durness

This is a remote location on the northern coast of Scotland, which boasts a wide range of small lakes and lagoons to be able to camp around and make the most of your trip. With the smaller stereotypical Scottish hamlets in the area boasting true rural Scottish heritage it is certainly worth a visit. The small beaches of Kearvaig and Achiemore offer spectacular views over the ocean and in turn give you something beautiful to wake up to. Whilst at the same time, camping at Balnakeil gives you an amazing blue sea in a remote Scottish bay to wake up to in the mornings, giving you an amazing start to your day.

Isle of Lewis

The Isle of Lewis is one of the more remote islands off the coast of Scotland and in turn boasts one of the most beautiful ethos’ in the whole of the country. Situated in the Outer Hebrides and accessible only by ferry, these islands get very tourist traffic and in turn make for the best holidays if you are looking to escape the crowds. You can get the ferry to this location from Ullapool to Stornoway, which is the biggest settlement on the island, and from their take one of the few roads the island holds to be able to locate the perfect spot for you.

Get in touch with our Edinburgh Campervan Hire team if you are interested in starting your own Scottish adventure!

The best locations on the island to get away from the poor weather are located on the southeast coast of the island. This comes as this coast of the island is less windy than the other due to the rocky outcrop taking the majority of the beating. However, the northwest side of the island has a stronger level of winder and more beautiful oceanic views so it is up to you which one you prefer.

There is an amazing location on the Tobson South beach, which is on the Northwest coastal region of the island and is sheltered from the wind due to its rocky outcrop. This gives amazing views over the smaller islands during the morning and allows you to see the sunrise over the south of the island and the bay.

Galloway Forest

Galloway forest is a Spruce plantation planted in the rural areas of Scotland to be able to preserve the Scottish woodland, it’s very rural nature and remote location earned it a dark skies award due to lack of light pollution due to its rural location. The forest its self covers 300 miles and in turn is one of the largest forested areas in Scotland and can be seen from an array of surrounding mountains. Loch Neldricken and Loch Enoch and a huge load of other lochs sit within the area and in turn, the forested lochs can make for an amazing spectacle on appearances.  If you love any sports such as Mountain biking or Fartleck that require rough and rigid terrain then this could be the perfect location for you with its inclined terrain and heavy density of trees.

Calgary Bay

Calgary bay is a small location on the west coast of Mull, this small in crop boasts amazing views out to see and of the small Gaelic buildings on the island.  There is even a castle looking out over the bay, which adds to the overall image that the bay gives to the beholder and gives yet another attraction to the location. The bay is located 8 miles from Tobermory and has very easy access once you reach the island by ferry. This means that you should have no problems accessing the bay and can easily get there, pitch up and enjoy your motorhome holiday.

Please contact the team over at Easicampers wigan and we will be more than happy to help with your booking  or any further information you require on 01942 77 88 99.
