Beautiful locations in Europe

With more and more people coming to Easicampers Wigan to book there motorhome or campervan for this year’s holiday, they seem to want to be able to take a motorhome into the heart of Europe to some of the more well-known beauty spots on the continent. However, these well-known spots can often be a little over exaggerated or spoilt with the hustle and bustle of tourism; therefore Easicampers Wigan have brought you some of the most remote and beautiful locations in Europe to be able to help you find peace and quiet within the heart of Europe.

Hallstatt, Austria
This is a tiny town in the heart of an Austrian valley, sat on the coast of Hallstatter, the picturesque town offers amazing historical importance, alpine culture and beautiful views of the mountains surrounding the lake; especially in the wintertime when the whole region befalls a blanket of snow. The small town was founded in 800 BC as a small salt mine and in turn still has a wide range of buildings and other attractions from its medieval past. These range from medieval salt works all the way to the medieval and Iron Age buildings, which dot the surrounding mountains and add to the overall aesthetic image that the location gives to the user. This city truly represents everything Europe stands for.

Dinant, Belgium
Dinant has been made famous for its beauty within Europe, the city itself is situated on the River Meuse and has been there for over 1000 years. The city is home to a huge cathedral and boasts some of the quietest and most beautiful views in Belgium. The gothic church of Notre Dame de Dinant calls the city its home along with the Citadel of Dinant and a small museum dedicated to music as the city was the birthplace to the invention of the saxophone.

The Mont Saint-Michel
This is a small island town based half a mile north of the French coast and is arguably one of the most amazing places in Europe. The town is walled off from the outside world in a citadel like manner and in turn has a very mystical and magical appeal to it, especially in the winter when the snow befalls the castle or in the height of summer when the grass banks around the castle come alive..

Lucerne, Switzerland
This city is less accessible than the other locations due to its seat in the heart of the surrounding mountains and one of Europe’s biggest lakes to its sides. The drive to this picturesque city will take you around 13 hours so it’s worth considering if you’re stopping somewhere along the way and turning it into a touring road trip as it’s well worth the journey.

Tunnel of Love, Ukraine
This is a huge attraction for young lovers and has the same sort of significance as the Paris Love Lock Bridge. The tunnel is a train track on the edge of Europe, which cuts through a forest and in turn gives the appearance of a magical whole cutting through the dense forestland. The tunnel is hard to reach due to its very rural nature and distance, however if it is something you have been wanting to visit before it could be well worth a visit in one of our motorhomes. The drive takes 26 hours overall so it’s worth taking the trip as a road trip and stopping at various European locations along the way.

If you wish to book a motorhome or camper van to make a trip to Europe please contact the team at Easicampers Wigan on 01942 821080.

Motorhome and Campervan hire Europe

However, these well-known spots can often be a little over exaggerated or spoilt with the hustle and bustle of tourism; therefore Easicampers wigan have brought you a guide to some of the most remote and beautiful locations in Europe to be able to help you find peace and quiet within the heart of Europe.

Hallstatt, Austria

These range from medieval salt works all the way to the medieval and Iron Age buildings, which dot the surrounding mountains and add to the overall aesthetic image that the location gives to the user. This city truly represents everything Europe stands for.
The mountain village is very easily accessible as there is an array of ski resorts in the surrounding valleys and in turn, it makes for an amazing motorhome holiday.

Dinant, Belgium
Dinant has been made famous for its beauty within Europe, the city is situated on the River Meuse and has been there for over 1000 years.
Reaching this location is very simple due to its very good travel links along the N97 and its reasonably close proximity to the border of France; in turn it only takes 7 and a half hours to reach the valley.

The Mont Saint-Michel
This is a small island town based half a mile north of the French coast and is arguably one of the most amazing places in Europe. The town is walled off from the outside world in a citadel like manner and in turn has a very mystical and magical appeal to it, especially in the winter when the snow befalls the castle or in the height of summer when the grass banks around the castle come alive. The fortress island has held its strategic position for thousands of years and in turn has updated its castle and walls slightly through a range of eras. This means that there is a little something from just about every era since 200BC on the island, which in turn gives it a lot of culture. The best thing about this location is simply that although it has a prestigious nature, there is only 25 people living on the island and it is unheard of by tourists so it never really becomes overly busy.
The fortress is located on the north coast of France looking out towards Jersey; this makes it very accessible through the channel tunnel or via the channel ferry to Cherbourg-Octeville or St-Malo.

Lucerne, Switzerland
Lucerne is a picturesque city in the heart of Switzerland on the bank of the Lake Lucerne. The city has a very close proximity to the Swiss Alps and in turn carries an alpine culture combined with the Germanic Swiss culture giving you a huge range of culture from the heart of Europe. This middle ground gives the city some amazing attractions such as Chapel Bridge and the Germanic defensive structures, which are companioned by alpine buildings and picturesque coffee shops. This very abrupt difference in structural fashions seems to work together flawlessly to bring something beautiful to the beholder.
This city is less accessible than the other locations due to its seat in the heart of the surrounding mountains and one of Europe’s biggest lakes to its sides. The drive to this picturesque city will take you around 13 hours so it’s worth considering stopping somewhere along the way and turning it into a touring road trip as it’s well worth the journey.

The drive takes 26 hours overall so it’s worth taking the trip as a road trip and stopping at various European locations along the way if you’re considering the journey, luckily the route passes the earlier mentioned town of Dinant which could make an amazing stop off location in your road trip of Europe.

Safety Tips for your Campervan Hire UK & Ireland

Just a few safety tips when hiring your Campervan from Easicampers wigan, many of you will be driving a large vehicle for the first time on the other side of the road. This requires you to be mindful of the different skills required to stay safe while driving even if you are an experienced driver. During your check in, we will advise you on how to handle the campervan on the road. When you are on the road in your campervan, your safety is your responsibility. Here are some of our campervan safety tips to help you along the way.

Plan your journey.
Give yourself time to get to your destination. Call ahead if you are going to be late so you are not under pressure. Aim to set off and arrive at your destination in daylight.

Give yourself extra time.
Enjoy the scenic routes but give yourself extra time in rural and coastal locations in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Short distances on a map may take longer to travel in reality. There is an excellent network of motorway and A roads for long distances.

Stay awake.
Always remember to take regular breaks whilst driving especially when travelling long distances. Try to avoid early morning and late night drives.

Always wear a seat belt.
Don’t relax your attitude to safety because you are on your holiday. The same rules apply wherever and whenever you are driving.

Believe lower speed limits.
They are there because of hazards ahead.

Ignore speeders.
Don’t be put under pressure by the vehicle behind you. Maintain the speed that you are comfortable with that keeps in control of the campervan. Pull in and let them overtake you.

Keep your distance.
Don’t be tempted to tailgate to make the driver in front go faster. If the traffic needs to break suddenly you may require a longer stopping distance than your normal vehicle to avoid a collision.

Mobile phones
It is illegal to use a mobile phone for calls or texting while driving in Scotland and Ireland. If you need to make that call, pull over somewhere safe. No excuses. Maintain your concentration and enjoy the drive!

Landscape
The Welsh landscape diversifies significantly depending where you are in the country. The Northern and Central areas of Wales are heavily mountainous and famous for their winding country roads, whereas the outskirts of the country are significantly easier to navigate and are made up of woodland and grassy plains.
This mountainous characteristic gives the country an array of attractions such as pot holing and rock climbing whilst still being able to maintain a picturesque natural beauty. The mountainous nature of this country is even reinforced by the simple nickname of the valleys due to the sheer amount of winding roads and valleys within the northern regions.

Coastline
The coastline of Wales is also famous due to its very diverse and varied nature, the northern regions of Wales hold huge sandy beaches filled with seaside picturesque villages, which are famous for family holidays and small retreats. Then there is the west coast that holds an array of small outcrop islands and sand dunes, this gives place to locations such as Shell Island, which sit on the small spits and are only accessible for a few hours every day.
Then finally, there is the south coast, which is home to a huge array of towns and cities, the south coast does not house anywhere near as much beaches as the other regions however, it is home to the River Seven Estuary.
This wide array of coast types means that no matter your reason to love Wales, there is something for you. Everything from mountain biking in the sand dunes to a seaside holiday with the family is available in this amazing country.

Sports
Sports in Wales is mainly based around the popular sports of football and rugby, however with such a huge diversity in the population and a wide array of mountains and forest land, there are a wide range of more demanding sports that are common place in the country. Things like mountain biking, paragliding, rock climbing and pot holing are all very popular sports that are widely available.
There is also a huge amount of water sports, which can be easily found throughout the country, white water rafting, canoeing, jet skiing and other similar sports can be found on the numerous Valley Rivers and lakes and this can be great fun for the whole family.

Driving a Motorhome
Driving a motorhome in Wales is one of the best possible locations you can take a motorhome, with the rolling hills and amazing valley roads and tight turns, there is an endless amount of fun to be had. However, one of the main things about welsh roads is simply the sheer amount of different routes you can take to get just about everywhere which makes every journey unique. With thousands of small valley lanes to be able to navigate, with the option of the motorways for the less confident, Wales truly does have one of the most interesting and thrilling road networks in the world.
