What is your ideal camping trip?

This summer we have been booked out on our motorhomes and met all kinds of motorhome and camper van hirers  along the way from wigan. Whilst you are all unique there are some types of campers that stand out, can you relate to any?

Family Fun Camping

These are our most popular motorhome and campervan hire’s over the summer as the kids are off school for 6 weeks, so we meet lots of people going on family camping holidays.

Families of 3 or up to 6 can hire motorhomes and campervans to suit them, whether planning a UK holiday or traveling over to Europe motorhome camping is a cost effective way to get a great holiday.

Our vw campervans are 4 berth and will seat 4 people traveling.

Motorhome and campervan camping gives families the ability to be flexible and explore, it is a great way to bond as a family as you are away from TV and internet for the majority of time and you get to see remote places or a cheap way to visit popular cities.

Most camp sites are family friendly and have activities for all ages.

Festival Camping

Another popular camping activity over the summer is festival camping, the big festivals like Glastonbury all have motorhome and vw campervan camping available and is a great way to experience the festivals in comfort with toilet facilities on your motorhome.

For festivals we see all types of motorhomes being booked out, from the small motorhomes and vans to the big luxury motorhomes for those who really want to party in style.

As we have motorhomes up to 6 berth and campervans upto 4 berth this is a great way for you and lots of your friends to travel down together and enjoy festivals together with all the mod cons you enjoy.

Luxury Camping

Not everyone likes to rough it, but they do enjoy the outdoors and the experience of camping. The benefits of camping are so much more than roughing it so those of us who like to travel in style and like home comforts then they often opt for our luxury motorhomes

The luxury motorhome we currently have on offer has the best interiors and room to sleep up to 6in the motorhome and 4 in the vw California campervans, but also has ample storage space for lots of luggage or sports equipment like bicycles.

It even has a double L shaped dining area for the best dining experience you could have whilst camping.

Camping with Pets

Pets are part of the family and camping with a motorhome is one way that you can take your pets on holiday. Many dog owners come to us every year to hire out our pet friendly motorhomes.

Taking your dog/pet on holiday can be very rewarding and also save a lot of money on kennel costs if you are planning to be away for a long time (some of our customers like to take the full 6 weeks off travelling around the UK and Europe).

You can take motorhomes to Europe for a real  adventure and camp sites are often very accommodating to dogs and pets. You will need to make sure you have a doggie passport if taking your dog across the channel to mainland Europe.

 Community Camping

This is when campers decide to holiday in a group, you often get group bookings of a few motorhomes and a few families. Some will travel separately and set up together at the campsites, often pitching tents and awnings for more space and more permanent communities.

This can be a really nice way to create a bit of a village away from home and there are plenty of well situated camp sites that have lots of nearby amenities and things to entertain everyone for 2 or 3 weeks.

Sports Camping

We have seen an increase in sports camping this year, couples, friends or families booking motorhomes to travel to sports activities or events.

Sometimes this is as a spectator, such as for the Tour de France or the Euros, but sometimes people book out the motorhomes to take part in a series of events or to travel to activities such as cycling, hiking or climbing.

So which type of camper fits you the best? Do you think we’ve missed any? We would love to hear from you if you have been on any of these trips over at Easicampers wigan.

If you wish to book one of our motorhomes or campervans then please do not hesitate to contact us at wigan Easicampers on 01942 821080 and the team will be happy to help.

photographers hiring a motor home or camper van.

Here at Easicampers motorhome and campervan hire we have a number of new vw California’s and ford zefiro motorhomes on fleet. At Easicampers wigan we have had a few enquires about photographers hiring the motorhomes and campervans to use to travel to places and take some interesting pictures.

Motorhomes have long been used for holidaymakers in the UK to be able to experience the great British countryside. However, what is stopping you using them for your photography hobby or business?

A wide range of photographers use motorhomes or campervans all the time to be able to get out into the rural locations before taking those perfect shots of the wild life. This is simply down to the simple fact that a motorhome has everything that they could possibly need and more when it comes to photography.

Storage Space

All of our motorhomes have a huge level of storage space to be able to fit all of your supplies and equipment, this ranges from shelves and cupboards all the way to the external storage unit to the rear of the motorhome. This means you can bring anything from a camouflage bivvy to tripods or other pieces of equipment as you can easily get it in and out of the storage unit without having the problem of pivoting it around the corner if you were to bring it aboard.

Affordable

If you are an amateur or a professional photographer, then you are not going to want to spend a huge amount of money on your next shoot when you know you can get a luxury experience for less. A hotel, transport and other fees such as meals can all add up to a large sum of money and in turn a Easicampers motorhome and campervan hire  can more often than not save you a huge amount in comparison.

Convenience

Unlike simply getting a nearby hotel or camping at the scene of your shoot in a tent, a motorhome has a wide range of convenience benefits to be able to offer a photographer. These include;

Facilities – The motorhome can offer you a wide range of facilities such as the shower, kitchen area or even the table to be able to work on if you need to do some editing on your laptop. These small additional extras within our motorhomes or campervans can all come together to make a big difference when it comes to staying in the same shooting location for a night or more.

Portable – Your motorhome or campervan  allows you to make all of your hard to carry equipment completely portable as you can simply fit everything you will need into the motorhome before you set off. This means that you do not have to be as strict when leaving your home and studio on what you bring. You can simply pack everything you think you may possibly need and decide when you are at the location as a lot of the time when you pack lightly you realise you needed something you hadn’t brought.

The Journey

Many photographers seem to prefer the motorhome alternative simply because of the journey. If they are heading to Scotland or somewhere else that seems rather distant, then the chances are they will have to cover a lot of land and in turn may find something worth shooting for their portfolio along the way. Just a look at a simple road map or online can reveal a whole load of other smaller shooting locations which you could divert to or fit on your route making the getaway seem even better.

If you would like to make a booking then please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01942 821080 and our team will be happy to help you.

Four of the best campsites

Here at Easicampers Wigan we have the ford zefiro 6 berth Motorhome to hire these have proved very popular with families and we also have the VW Campervan to hire, these have been popular with couples and small families.
Hundreds of campsites open up every year in the UK. All it takes is some spare land and a small investment. So we thought it best to sort through these camp sites and find you some little known tranquil gems to make the most out of the motorhome experience.

Hawkshead Hall
This camp site is based in a small valley with Mountains and cliff faces to one side and pine forests to the other. It accepts motorhomes all year round and has lots to offer locally such as quiet village life or the large array of lakes and valleys within walking distance.
It accepts Motorhomes for 18 pound a night which includes staying the night and an electric hook-up for the Motorhome itself.

Lickisto Black House
Based on the Isle of Skye, it doesn’t get much more stereotypically Scottish than this. The rocky highlands and rolling hills are backed by the North Sea and views of the surrounding islands and the water locked rocky outcrops. If you like tranquillity then this is the best place to go as it is only accessible by ferry. This campsite is truly the closest thing to the stereotypical rural Scotland you will ever find.

Sango Sands
This is one of the most northern campsites on the UK mainland and it accepts Motorhomes. This makes it one of the best places to go in the UK if you want to try and catch a glimpse of the northern lights. There are many reviews claiming how amazing this campsite is and how spectacular the night time and sun set views are.
The northern lights in the night, followed by the misty and foggy mornings of the Scottish highlands, topped with the majestic Kyle of Dourness estuary and rolling Scottish mountains. There is little that could beat this camp site when it comes to scenic and aesthetic appreciation.

Three Cliffs Cove
Overlooking Three Cliffs Cove on the south coast of England, this camp site is for people who truly love a sea view. The cove looks amazing in both the summers sun and even in the winter’s snow and ice with its majestic properties and feel.
The whole area is also covered with smaller hidden beaches within the numerous cliff faces. This makes it perfect for a tranquil holiday hunter who simply wants to relax on a warm beach this summer or take in the brisk air in the winter.
Please give us a call if you require any further information about the Motorhomes or Campervans on 01942 821080.

A motorhome holiday with children

A Motorhome holiday is always fun regardless if it is just you and your friends, your other half or even the whole family. At Easicampers Wigan a lot of families have hired our motorhomes and campervans and they all had a fab time and the kids love the outdoors. However, if you are considering taking the children you need to ensure you are fully prepared for the journey ahead of you and have done everything you can to save you a stressful experience further down the line.

Space
Even though an Easicampers motorhome is always a specious environment for your getaway, bringing little ones requires even more space. This comes as children love to be able to run around, play together and need more storage space for bringing things such as clothing or gadgets. This In turn means that getting a more spacious motor home could work in your benefit, especially when you consider that within a bigger motorhome there are more births to be able to sleep in and you will not have to disturb the furniture when it comes to bedtime. This may seem like a strange benefit but when you consider you will be probably staying up a little later than the children will and they will probably be awake slightly earlier than you will.

Pack Snacks
Little ones can be bribed with snacks very easily and in turn, this can keep them calm on long journeys, in the evening before bed and in a range of other situations. Although it is not the healthiest of options, if it is given to them in small amounts and only every so often, it can be a great way to calm them down and keep them quiet. Children often prefer different foods to adults so packing their favourite foods and packing some more mature food is always a good idea if you want to be able to keep everyone happy, including yourself.

Use a Site
Children love to be able to mingle with other children and in turn, opting for a site over a wild camping experience always works out more beneficial to yourself. A variety of sites come with things such as parks, children’s crèche’, childcare and a whole load of other attractions for the little ones to be able to mingle with other children and have fun. Therefore, opting for this over a normal wild camping experience seems like a no brainer with children.

Book Activities
Booking activities for your child on the getaway is very important as if you do not, you will simply get complaints about boredom and monotony. Try booking things such as stop off locations along the way in various castles or small theme parks to be able to tease the fun nature into the children. There are thousands of small locations across the country that you can visit and spend an hour or two to keep the children happy for a few more hours on the road. Things such as Jump Nation, Water world or Silver Blades Ice Rink can be amazing places to be able to kill a few hours and keep the children quiet for the day.

Organisation
Organisation in a motorhome holiday is key. Things such as planning a few rainy day backups, planning the route and organising the things you pack all require a level of skill and perseverance, as something is bound to go wrong and it is important to know that you’ve planned ahead to prevent it. Remember to plan things such as board games, indoor activity backups such as the cinema, Eden Project, water world and other variations as these activities can go a long way in ensuring the children don’t complain if something falls through due to the British weather.

If you are thinking of taking your children along with you on your motorhome break, then take a look through our range of motorhomes and campervans to be able to select one with sufficient room to be able to suit your needs for your family. Our friendly team at Easicampers Wigan will be more than happy to help you make that decision

If you wish to book or for any further information please do not hesitate to contact the team over at Easicampers wigan on 01942 821080.

Easicampers Campervans

Looking for a break away this summer we still have availability on our VW California campervans at Easicampers Wigan, Preston and Blackburn. I have listed some of the best road trips around Europe to go in you’re Campervan.

Easicampers knows that the best road trips in Europe are something of myth and legend with more and more people heading out to the European coast every year to be able to see what is available. Therefore, it makes sense that we bring you the best VW campervan road trips we could find that allow you to be able to get lost exploring the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe.

Monaco to Genoa – Beautiful Scenery

Monaco to Genoa takes you across the coastline of south east of France over into Italy through the cities of Nice, Toulon and Savona and takes around 3-4 days to complete if you stop along the way to explore. This route sees you follow the north coast of the Mediterranean and in turn is a warm route during the summer months whilst having a chilly climate in the winter months. Well worth visiting if you love warm weather and amazing views.
The view also has a wide variety of small picturesque Italian and French seaside villages for you to be able to overlook from the main road and even pull over to explore in some cases, well worth looking at if you are a lover of south European culture.

Perpignan to Corunna – Mountainous Coast

This is a trip that sees you take to one of the more mountainous regions of Europe through Andorra and over the Pyrenees and along the northern most coast of Spain to the city of Corunna. This in turn sees you take to France, Spain and Andorra all in one trip along two coasts. Although not the entire road trip is on the coastal roads, the majority is and the small amount that is not sees you taken through the breath taking north Spanish mountains as you see views over the snow-capped peaks and the deep snow covered valleys below.

Sicilian Coast – Beautiful Scenery

The Sicilian coast is an amazing location that offers some of the best scenery in the entire world and is located right here in Europe making it very accessible to a wide array of people. You can reach it by heading over to Italy and catching the ferry in your Easicampers Motorhome meaning that you have the chance to be able to enjoy the west coast of Italy on your journey down the coast. Whilst at the same time having the availability of stopping in the Alps for a day to two to be able to explore the natural beauty of this location. Sicily is world famous for its rural nature and beautiful scenery making it well worth the journey when you do the full lap of its coastline.

Scotland – NC500

The NC500 is the British answer to route 66 and has been opened in northern Scotland to be able to give people a taste of Scottish culture. The route starts at Inverness castle, which is a signature point for Scottish culture, and lasts around 516 miles which gives it an impressive length and makes it well worth following if you want to feel the true highland culture. The route its self-follows the entire northern Scotland coast around the highlands and has a huge array of small cafe’s and picturesque villages and hamlets along the route. This in turn makes it amazing if you are looking for a location you can explore this summer.

Bodo to Bergen – Nordic Road

Bodo to Bergen is for the people who are prepared to be able to take the more Nordic and scenic route and to travel on a road trip over the faster and more sunny routes of the south. This route will see you pass through many snow-blanketed valleys and through many mountains, before you reach your destination, which in turn makes it a friend to the hardcore explorer. This road trip can take up to a week depending how much you drive every day so it’s worth taking a look for yourself and shortening it if you need to before undertaking it.

Camping in Scotland: Top Tips for a Happy Holiday!

I have been talking to some of our customers, who have hired our motorhomes and campervans and a lot of them have gone up to Scotland so I thought it would be a good idea to put together some useful tips for wild camping and a few other bits to help you plan your trip. Camping in Scotland can be one of the most beautiful and amazing experiences of your lifetime, with endless, mountains, picturesque hamlets and an endless array of ore inspiring valleys and loch’s; it’s easy to see why people can get lost in the aesthetics of such an amazing landscape. However, there are a few things you need to understand about this vast country before you can take it head on. Take a look for yourself.

Take Extra Fuel
Scotland can be a very rural country and in turn, some stretches of road may not have fuel stations for over 50 miles. The west coast is especially infamous for this, simply as there are not many people living there so fuel stations simply are not in demand. It is always best to stock up on fuel where you can and whenever you can.

Wild Camping is Amazing
Wild camping is one of the many amazing things about Scotland. Unlike staying at a camping site or motorhome park, wild camping allows you to be able to find untouched locations and camp in the Scottish wilderness. If you want to be able to wake up to a view of the mountains, view of the coast or simply want to sleep within the forest, wild camping could be your new best friend. Unlike England, Scotland allows wild camping and more so actually encourages it, so you won’t get into trouble camping in Scotland and you’ll find many car parks open overnight that boast amazing views over the Scottish highlands.

Take the Four Legged Friend
Scotland has endless forestland and mountains to be able to give your entire family the most enjoyable time possible and luckily for dog lovers, this means including the furry friend. Taking your dog along with you in a rental motorhome is made possible with Easicampers Motorhome Hire @ Edinburgh and in turn, you can really make the most of your get away. Simply let us know you are bringing your pet when you book your campervan or motorhome.

Single Lane
There is an array of back country roads north of Inverness that are all single lane, due to this you’ll need some confidence in driving if you’re going to stay calm whilst navigating a motorhome around single lane roads. There are alternatives however these alternatives to the back country roads can add hours onto your journey so to be able to reach the heart of rural Scotland and ensure a smoother trip, build your confidence in larger vehicles before taking to the open roads.

Pack Right
Packing right for a motorhome get away is usually very simple, clothing, bedding and a few optional extras. However, motorhome camping in Scotland is not this simple. Scotland can be a very unforgiving place so it is important to pack everything you will need in case of an emergency.

A first aid kit is included within the motorhome, however things such as extra blankets in case you run out of fuel and become stranded, extra food in case the weather does not permit movement to the local shops and other precautions should be taken.

Campervan and Motorhome hire Europe

Easicampers Wigan understands that some of the busier tourist attractions in Europe can deter a wide range of people simply because they are too busy to enjoy properly or have been spoilt by tourists over the years. Therefore, we have brought you five picturesque locations for you to be able to enjoy your holiday without the ruined scenery or busy rushed streets.

Kungsleden, Sweden
Kungsleden is a hiking trail located in the Northern Region of Sweden, the trail encompasses over 270 miles of beautiful and virtually untouched European landscape and in turn makes it somewhere you should visit if you have a longing for exploration and nature. The Swedish trail is open all year round and during the winter becomes a cross-country ski route with a few small changes to the route to be able to ease the terrain.

Loch Maree, Scotland
Loch Maree is an untouched loch in the northernmost region of Scotland on the NC500 road trip route, the lake holds over 60 small wood islands and a few of these islands have smaller land locked lakes within them making it a very tranquil location to visit. With its very northern and remote aesthetic, the loch is virtually untouched by tourism and in turn is a beautiful unspoilt Scottish wilderness.
The lake is the sixth largest loch in Scotland and the largest loch north of Loch Ness, so for this reason offers a range of water sports to the locals and the occasional tourist. The lack of public travel links and the distant location means that not many tourists stumble across is and in turn, you should be able to find yourself a motorhome campsite and an array of attractions at a very reasonable price.

Fort Bourtange, the Netherlands
Fort Bourtange is a fortress made through the 80 years’ war between the Dutch colonies and Spain. Built in the Netherlands in 1593 it carries the aesthetic of the country and replicates everything it stands for with its picturesque atmosphere, Cannels, fields and general scenery. Everything about the fortress just screams for attention sand makes it a beautiful place to visit.

Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor is one of the most culturally relevant cities in Europe with direct links to the East Roman Empire, Dalmatian Empire, Bulgarian Empire, Saracens, Russian Empire and the Hapsburg’s; it’s safe to say the city saw its fair share of political and military action. The signs from all of these different empires are visible throughout the city with a wide range of buildings and other attractions in various styles. The Venetian walls, roman gates and Byzantine watchtowers are just a small example of the cultural diversity, which has befallen on the city.

Käsmu, Estonia
Käsmu is perfect for anybody who loves tranquillity and is only a short journey from England. The village is a small North Estonian fishing village set in the Lahemaa National Park, it is this surrounding and small nature of the village, which deters a wide array of tourists. However, this works in your favour as it leaves you some amazingly beautiful coastline to navigate along with a range of small Bohemian hamlets to explore.

If you love any of these locations; why not take a look at our motorhome and campervan range, book your motorhome or campervan with us at Easicampers wigan and head away on a beautiful European retreat.
If you wish to hire one of our 6 berth motorhomes or 4 berth campervans then please do not hesitate to give us a call at Easicampers Wigan on 01942 77 88 99.

Ireland in a Campervan or Motorhome

Here at Easicampers Wigan we have Motorhomes and Campervans available to hire whether it’s just to try before you buy one of your own or for a family holiday. All our customers that have taken them out over the May bank holiday have all recommended them.
So I thought I’d put together some places together to visit in Ireland that maybe you would like to visit.

Ireland’s reputation precedes itself, so first timers or campervan enthusiasts might think they know what to expect, gabby locals, clover fields etc. But there is so much more to Ireland than its normal day to day charms. Taking a campervan to Ireland is a fantastic way to get around and really explore this unknown land of luxury and historical wonderland.

Here are some tips on places to visit while exploring Ireland in a campervan or motorhome:

1: Bru Na Boinne – Predating our Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids the Bru Na Boinne in County is a mind twisting testament to the achievements of prehistoric humans. This extraordinary necropolis includes the passage tomb of Newgrange, said to be built in the Stone Age in c 3200 BC with a chamber that floods with sunlight on the winter solstice.

2: Giant’s Causeway – Just between Belfast and Londonderry in County Antrim in Northern Ireland is Giant’s Causeway. This is a geological wonder, formed some 60 million years ago by cooling lava, its 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns jut into the sea. Legend has it they were built by giant Finn McCool to fight his rival Benandonner in Scotland.

3: Cliffs of Moher – Along Ireland’s new 2500km long coastal drive, also known as the Wild Atlantic Way holds the entirely vertical cliffs of Moher in County Clare which rise to a dramatic hight of 203m around 666ft!. Parking up in the campervan at the top of these can really take your breath away, especially on clear days when you can see the Aran Islands etched on the waters of Galway Bay. The sound will take you into another world with the ocean waves smashing below and the Atlantic spray on your cheeks. An ideal spot to just park up and have a Guinness!

4: Wildlife – Ireland is abundant in wildlife, one of them being Dolphins you can take a tour with one of the more known companies in Ireland (Dolphin watch) and this is a one off experience, enjoy seeing these magnificent creatures in all their glory along with an abundance of other species of wildlife. For those into bird watching this is also a fantastic way to see a lot of different bird species which the guide would be happy to point out the name of if spotted.

5: Grafton Street Area, Dublin – So much more than your average shopping street, Grafton Street Area is filled with buskers, flower-sellers and performance artists. You will find countless places to stop and just watch the world go by. Cafe culture has taken off in the capital, and on a sunny day, you might think you’re in Barcelona or Lisbon, instead you’re in the heart of Irelands shopping heartland. If you’re looking for the best cafe and breakfast in town be sure to go and visit the Bewley’s Oriental Cafe. Be sure to take your time in this magnificent area as you duck down under the numerous alleyways and streets to see what you can find and discover.

6: The Aran Islands – Originally brought to the world’s attention in 1934 by the documentary Man of Aran, these islands have been attracting visitors ever since. This is a taste of Ireland as it once was. There are a total of three islands, the largest being Inishmore, then Inishmaan, and the smallest is Inisheer. Windswept, wild, rugged and so unique, the islands offer an experience like no other, not only that they are ideal for taking a camper or motorhome over to and just exploring for a few days. One thing you cannot miss out on is the great stone fort of Dun Aonghasa and those towering cliffs of Aran. The local culture is a lot different to that of the mainland Ireland, the archaeological heritage cannot be found anywhere else and the rich scenery is just quite breath-taking…. one of the larger caravan camp sites in the islands is the Connemara Carvan & Camping park offering a wide range of services and activities.
